Widows 'marks the triumphant return of Steve McQueen to the direction after the massive success of '12 Years of Slavery', a film that in 2013 won the Oscar for Best Picture. Six years after the premiere, McQueen is ready to return to the ring, now, hand in hand with the very talented Viola Davis.
Adapted from the British television series of the same name, McQueen co-writes this film with Gillian Flynn, the famous author of 'Gone Girl' and the new success of HBO, 'Sharp Objects'. The plot revolves around a tragedy that affects not only the character of Viola Davis, but also those of Michelle Rodriguez, Cynthia Erivo and Elizabeth Debicki.
Liam Neeson, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Jon Bernthal and Garret Dillahunt play the husbands of the four protagonists who, during a failed armed robbery, are murdered. After the fact, their widows decide to end the robbery not only for the money at stake, but as a measure of survival.
Along the way, they will meet the characters of Brian Tyree Henry and Colin Farrell who, as main antagonists of the film, take center stage in this new development. Although there is no official release date for this part of the world, 'Widows' will debut in November in the United States. Watch the trailer here.
